Sharon Howson-Jan, MSW, RSW, has been part of Westbridge for the last twenty years, providing counselling and psychotherapy to individuals and couples facing a variety of life challenges including depression, anxiety and trauma related issues. Sharon sees the therapeutic relationship as a collaborative one in which client and therapist work toward acquiring greater understanding, accomplishing goals and experiencing meaningful change.
Sharon completed her Master of Social Work degree at McGill University. Her early years of practice were in the medical area with a focus on adjustment to illness. She has training in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT), provided through the International Centre of Excellence in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, and numerous workshops with an EFT focus. A large portion of her practice is devoted to working with couples who are experiencing challenges in their relationship. She also has training in the modalities of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR); Image Transformation Therapy (ITT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
